Energy Social Tariff
The energy social tariff is a social support that consists of a discount on the tariffs for access to networks of low-voltage electricity and/or low-pressure natural gas , which makes up the final price invoiced to the customer for electricity and/or natural gas.
With the entry into force, on July 1, 2016, of the amendments to Decree-Law 138-A/2010 and Decree-Law 101/2011, made by Law 7-A/2016, of March 30 (State Budget for 2016), article 121, access to the benefit of the social tariff for electricity and natural gas is now carried out through an automatic recognition mechanism.
The list of beneficiaries is produced by DGEG based on final customer data received from the sector's agents after verification of the customer's eligibility conditions with the Portuguese Tax and Customs Authority and Social Security.
