Concerted Action Directive on Energy Efficiency

Directive 2012/27/EU on Energy Efficiency sets out a binding set of measures to help the EU achieve its target of 20% energy efficiency by 2020. Under the Directive, all EU countries must use energy in a way more efficient at all stages of the energy chain, from production to final consumption.

On 30 November 2016, the Commission proposed an update of the Energy Efficiency Directive, including a new target of 30% energy efficiency by 2030 and measures to update it, in order to ensure compliance with the new target.

The Concerted Action of the Energy Efficiency Directive provides a structured framework for the exchange of information between the 27 Member States and Norway during the implementation of the Directive. In this context, each Member State will be able to share its knowledge and experience in order to adopt the most successful approaches towards the implementation of the Directive and learn from the experience of other Member States.
